Alyth Environmental Group Report Gala Day The Group, like many others, were very disappointed that the Gala was cancelled. Much work from the members had gone into preparing for the day. It is now planned that a stall will be taken, at the Arts& Crafts Festival in August, to put on display the projects the AEG is involved in. May Tasks The latest two hour task, in May saw a clean up the old curling rink on the Market Muir, by five embers and two teenage lads. Michael Smailes and Richard Gould are working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Awards. It could be the ring might be used for some other purposes in future. Rubbish was cleared from the adjoining woods and the war memorial within the two hours. Clive is actively seeking the owners to discuss the possibility of more work there to restore the ponds and woodland. The group understands that there are “limitations of use “ concerning the Muir but would welcome the ideas of anyone for putting this valuable asset back into use. Drumderg Wind Farm All is very quiet, but things should perk up soon as a planning application was due to be presented to PKC during June. The website is still being worked on by Robert Stewart, it is hoped to be up and running soon. Recycling Point Facelift To be passed on to Alyth Youth Partnership as a possible future project. Beech Hedge At Alyth PS No response from the school re finishing this project. Alyth Hill The AEG is to contact Scottish Natural Heritage concerning an ecological survey. A cow, grazing on Alyth Hill, almost chocked to death on the top pf a plastic ”sucky” drinks bottle. This brings to light the problem of litter dropping particularly in places where the road cleaner does not operate. For the sake of other humans and the animals DON’T DROP LITTER, PLEASE TAKE IT HOME. Scottish Outdoor Access Code The group is grateful to member, Paul Fannon, for the work he has done in preparing the AEG’s proposed response. This will be distributed to all other members for comment and amendment prior to being returned to SNH. Den O’ Alyth We now have the plans form the P&K Ranger Service, for wheel chair friendly paths which SNH has approved. The total cost of the project could be £70,000. The group has received £10,000 in funding from PK Countryside Trust. We have a promise of a further £10,000 from another source. We should hear soon if our Heritage Lottery Fund bid has been successful, meanwhile Clive and Charles are still putting bids together. Small Task Funding Small grants of about £200 are available from The Countryside Trust for jobs such as installing a kissing gate or signing. New Alyth School Link No reply from School Trodlem Footpath This path to Alyth Hill, is the subject of the group’s July task but it has been decided that some preliminary work will be carried out Sunday morning 22nd June. As always the July task will be at 2pm, 20th July, meeting at the junction of Strathmore Terrace and Trodlem. Alyth Road Sweeper Clive has found out that if anybody sees an area that needs cleaning the road sweeper will be pleased to hear about it as he does not work a fixed round. Directing your mail into folders in Outlook Express 1 Highlight your Inbox 2 Right Click on your Inbox and choose New Folder 3 Type in the folder name and click OK 4 Go to Tools - Message Rules-and click Mail 5 Click on New 6 Step one Select the conditions for the rule- (Where the from line contains people) or ( The subject line contains words etc) And choose your rule. 7 Step two choose -Move to the specified folder 8 Step three Where the from line contains people- click the link and add names or addresses into the box and click OK 9 Step four click the link-Specified and choose the folder you already set up. You can also go to tools first and make your folder in step 9 If I wanted all “Voicie” mail directed into my own folder here’s how I would do it. 1 Highlight Inbox 2 Choose New Folder 3 Name folder Voicie 4 Go to -Tools, Message Rules, Mail 5 Click New 6 Where the To line contains People 7 -Voicie or Voicie@Alythvoice* 8 Move to specified folder 9 -Voicie *This is only a fictitious address for the purpose of this example* Now all MY mail will go right into the “Voicie” folder Happy Computing!!
