Efficiency. The IRCCS‐FBF receives about € 2M per year from the Italian Ministry of Healh (socalled
Ricerca Corrente), 10% of which (i.e. about € 200K per year) goes to my Unit (LENITEM). Since the
IRCCS‐FBF was born, my Unit has produced between 25% and up to 50% of the global scientific
production of IRCCS‐FBF. Thus, from the perspective of my Institution, my unit produces between 2.5
and 5 times more than predictable based on institutional funding.
