Moving away from scholarships and financial aid, if we were to subtract the $11 million
in financial aid and scholarships from the overall $40 million budget we would be left with
a budget of about $29 million. Of that $29 million, approximately 69 percent is devoted to
faculty and staff salaries and benefits. Thus, a gift to the Annual Fund helps us to support
our outstanding faculty and staff who provide our students with the fantastic education and
support they receive. Consequently, a gift to the Annual Fund supports our most important
asset—our people.
This year, we hope you will once again renew your commitment to our college. As you
consider your gift to Colby-Sawyer, you may also want to consider designating an Annual
Fund gift for scholarship support, faculty support, or another specific area which you may care
deeply about, such as extracurricular opportunities for students, student travel, distinguished
speakers, the “Courier” (our student newspaper), green initiatives, athletics, or technology.
Whether designated or not, your gift to the Annual Fund will make an immediate and huge
positive difference in our lives and in our students’ lives.
Without your support, we would not have been able to accomplish the many things we
have in the past year. With your future gifts, we will continue to improve and to strive for
excellence in everything we do. Your generous support of the college’s Annual Fund not only
impacts our students, and strengthens our most basic educational mission with an enhanced
academic program, it helps to ensure the future financial flexibility of Colby-Sawyer to
continue to thrive and be successful.
