Pattern Making
SHOE DESIGN AND VISUALIZATION WITH RHINOCEROS
Pattern making consists of flattening the 3-D surfaces that comprise the upper to create a
template or pattern for cutting the leather or other material.
While Rhino provides tools for conceptualizing designs and manufacturing certain
components, features specifically for pattern making are not included.
Currently, solutions are provided by Rhino plug-in applications such as ARL Expander, which
can flatten these surfaces (www.albacoreresearch.com/expander.html).
