Another example <strong>of</strong> the absence <strong>of</strong> British heritages from the primary grade Social Sciences<br />

undertake further research to understand more fully the reasons for and development <strong>of</strong><br />

Moreton Bay Settlement” (Department <strong>of</strong> Education, 1988a, p. 29). Throughout this activity,<br />

the broad sweeping term <strong>of</strong> European rather than the more specific, Great Britain or British<br />

is used. The wording <strong>of</strong> the inquiry question is: “What information led to the discovery by<br />

Europeans <strong>of</strong> the Brisbane River?” (Department <strong>of</strong> Education, 1988a, p. 30). The activity,<br />
