Demonstrating a sub discourse <strong>of</strong> Indigenous people as a novelty, the narrative explains that<br />

Flinders decided to cut the hair <strong>of</strong> the Indigenous people in order to avoid confrontation. This<br />

is communicated in the textbook through Source 6.13, which presents a child-like quality <strong>of</strong><br />

Indigenous people.<br />
