PAUL FORD<br />

Through a competitive review process in November 2006, the NAC <strong>Governor's</strong><br />

<strong>Arts</strong> <strong>Award</strong>s (GAA) Committee selected Minden artist Paul Ford to create the<br />

artwork presented to the <strong>27th</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> GAA recipients.A former recipient of the<br />

25th GAA Excellence in the <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>Award</strong> and a <strong>Nevada</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>Council</strong> Artist<br />

Fellowship in the visual arts, Ford created contemporary mixed media landscapes<br />

for this year's awards that focused on land usage in <strong>Nevada</strong>. In describing his<br />

pieces, Ford explained,“Sustained urban growth in the past, present and future is<br />

not without a price in terms of impact upon the natural environment. With<br />

thoughtful planning and cooperation from all factions, I remain optimistic about<br />

<strong>Nevada</strong>'s future growth, but I feel compelled to create works about this change.”<br />

NEVADA OPERA YOUTH CHORUS<br />

The <strong>Nevada</strong> Opera Youth Chorus (NOYC) gives talented young singers from the<br />

Truckee Meadows and northern <strong>Nevada</strong> the opportunity to be a member of a<br />

high quality choral ensemble that performs in public with the <strong>Nevada</strong> Opera and<br />

Reno Philharmonic Orchestra.An auditioned group for youth in the third through<br />

eighth grades, NOYC provides vocal training, music education and public<br />

performance experience.
