Application checklist<br />
1 . Complete one application form to apply to SIBT, <strong>Macquarie</strong> <strong>University</strong>,<br />
CME or <strong>Navitas</strong> English (if required) .<br />
2 . Include certified * copies of all academic qualifications (school, college, university) .<br />
3 . Include certified * copy of English language proficiency .<br />
4 . Include certified * translation of any documents that are not in English .<br />
5 . If you have changed your name official documents must be included .<br />
Refund policy for overseas students<br />
* A certified copy is a photocopy signed by an authorised officer to<br />
acknowledge that it matches the original document exactly .<br />
Authorised officers are:<br />
• The SIBT office in Sydney<br />
• An authorised SIBT representative (please visit: www .sibt .nsw .edu .au)<br />
• The institution that issued the documents<br />
• A Justice of the Peace or Public Notary<br />
• An Australian Embassy, Consulate or Education Centre .<br />
1. Fees<br />
1 .1 . Once an applicant accepts a place offered by SIBT<br />
a binding contract is created between the student<br />
and SIBT . The contract is governed by the laws of<br />
the Commonwealth of Australia and the State of<br />
New South Wales .<br />
1 .2 . Overseas students will not be permitted to<br />
commence or continue their course until all<br />
outstanding fees or charges are paid .<br />
1 .3 . Provision has been made to safeguard payments<br />
made in advance by students . All course fees will be<br />
deposited into the SIBT Student Fees Account .<br />
When the student commences study, SIBT will draw<br />
down these funds from the Student Fees Account .<br />
1 .4 . Fees are correct as at the time of printing .<br />
The Institute reserves the right to vary its fees at<br />
any time .<br />
1 .5 . Where a student studies less than a full semester<br />
load (four units), the student will be charged the<br />
current per unit fee for each unit undertaken .<br />
1 .6 . A student who obtained permanent resident status<br />
after the census date in the relevant study period,<br />
will be considered an international student for fee<br />
calculation purposes and will be liable to pay the<br />
tuition fees applying to international students for<br />
that study period . From the following study period<br />
onwards, the student will be considered a<br />
permanent resident for fee calculation purposes .<br />
2. Refund<br />
2 .1 . SIBT’s current, full Refund Policy for Overseas<br />
Students is available at: http://www .sibt .nsw .edu .<br />
au/index .php/sibt-policies .html .<br />
2 .2 . No refunds are given for course fees or excess<br />
payments of fees unless the student has completed<br />
or withdrawn from their course .<br />
2 .3 . Late payment, cancellation and Payment Plan2<br />
charges and are non-refundable .<br />
3 .2 . If a student wishes to defer enrolment until a later<br />
semester SIBT will hold the fees paid until<br />
commencement, without penalty . Deferrals will only<br />
be accepted until the end of week 4, except where<br />
there is evidence of compassionate or compelling<br />
circumstances . Students who defer and then<br />
subsequently withdraw from the course will be<br />
liable to the refund policy from the date of<br />
application for the deferral . Maximum deferral is 3<br />
semesters or 12 months, except where there is<br />
evidence of compassionate or compelling<br />
circumstances .<br />
4. Unclaimed Money<br />
4 .1 . If SIBT is unable to contact a former student to<br />
arrange the refund of an overpayment, the funds<br />
will be held for a maximum of six years, at which<br />
time the credit balance greater than $100 will be<br />
transferred to the Office of State Revenue (OSR) .<br />
Accounts with balance less than or equal to $100<br />
will be forfeited to SIBT . Where the Institute has<br />
passed the funds to the Office of State Revenue<br />
students are advised to access the OSR online<br />
search functionality from www .osr .nsw .gov .au and<br />
make a claim to recover funds online .<br />
5. Other Conditions<br />
5 .1 . For the purpose of the Refund Policy for Overseas<br />
Students, a course is defined as one semester of<br />
study in any program of SIBT .<br />
5 .2 . Refund of OSHC premiums can only be considered<br />
in accordance with the refund policy of Worldcare .<br />

5 .3 . If part of a packaged program3 is provided by an<br />
external party the refunds relating to that part of a<br />
program will not be covered by this policy .<br />
5 .4 . This agreement, and the availability of complaints<br />
and appeals processes, does not remove the right<br />
of the student to take action under Australia’s<br />
consumer protection laws .<br />
Declaration<br />
I declare that the information I have supplied on this form<br />
is, to the best of my understanding and belief, complete<br />
and correct .<br />
I have read and understood the published course<br />
information in the brochure or website and I have<br />
sufficient information about SIBT to enrol . I give<br />
permission for SIBT to obtain official records from any<br />
educational institution attended by me and from<br />
<strong>Macquarie</strong> <strong>University</strong> following my studies at SIBT .<br />
I authorise SIBT to provide any relevant personal<br />
information to <strong>Macquarie</strong> <strong>University</strong> and <strong>Navitas</strong> Ltd to<br />
facilitate the issue of a student ID card and the use of<br />
<strong>Macquarie</strong> <strong>University</strong> and <strong>Navitas</strong> Ltd library resources . I<br />
authorise both bodies to retain my photo image for<br />
identification purposes . I also authorise SIBT to supply my<br />
contact details and any relevant official records to<br />
educational institutions to which I am eligible to<br />
gain admission .<br />
I authorise SIBT to provide my personal information,<br />
including my contact details, course enrolment details<br />
and (if applicable) the circumstances of any suspected<br />
breach of student visa conditions, to the following bodies:<br />
the Australian Government’s designated authorities; the<br />
Tuition Assurance Scheme; the ESOS Assurance Fund<br />
Manager, and to third party service providers (such as<br />
electronic storage providers and organisations which may<br />
assist in the processing and finalisation of my<br />
application) . In other instances information collected on<br />
this form and during my enrolment can be disclosed<br />
without my consent where authorised or required by law .<br />
I accept liability for payment of all fees as explained in<br />
this brochure or website and I agree to abide by the<br />
refund policy as specified . I also understand that extra<br />
fees may rise . I agree to abide by the SIBT academic rules<br />
and policies as published on the website and portal . I<br />
have also read the section relating to cost of living in<br />
Australia and I confirm that I am able to meet<br />
these costs .<br />
2 .4 . All requests for refunds of fees must be made in<br />
writing using the Student Request for a Refund Form<br />
which may be obtained from SIBT’s office . The form<br />
must be signed by the student, or in the event that<br />
the student does not have the capacity to do so, by<br />
the student’s parent or legal guardian . The<br />
cancellation fee will be calculated as shown in Table<br />
1 .0 below .<br />
2 .5 . All fees paid including any course fees collected by<br />
education agents on behalf of SIBT, except the<br />
5 .5 . Where a visa renewal is rejected due to a breach in<br />
visa conditions (e .g . misbehavior), a student must<br />
withdraw from SIBT and the cancellation fee will be<br />
calculated as shown in the Table 1 .0 .<br />
Refunds will be granted according to the following<br />
guidelines . Any request which falls outside these<br />
guidelines will be referred to the College Director<br />
and Principal or their nominee, for consideration<br />
and decision .<br />
I understand that it is my responsibility to maintain my<br />
Overseas Health Cover current . I also understand that if I<br />
am not enrolled at SIBT my OSHC membership<br />
automatically expires (overseas students only) .<br />

2 .6 . SIBT reserves the right not to offer a course<br />

Where a student is unable to enrol in a similar<br />
course at SIBT and the enrolment is cancelled then<br />
all fees paid will be refunded .<br />
2 .7 . Refund payments will be made in Australian Dollars<br />
(AUD) .<br />

2 .8 . All refunds under SIBT’s Refund Policy and<br />
Enrolment Conditions for Overseas Students will be<br />
4 weeks or less 60% of the course fees<br />
paid within four (4) weeks after receiving a written<br />
claim from the student . In the unlikely event that<br />
SIBT is unable to deliver your course in full, you will<br />
be offered a refund of all the course money you<br />
have paid to date . The refund will be paid to you<br />
within 2 weeks of the day on which the course<br />
