Grand Valley State University’s role is that <strong>of</strong> a public, comprehensive institution which provides educational services to<br />

Grand Valley State University has been the fastest growing public university in Michigan for nearly two decades. Founded<br />
in 1960 as a state college, GVSU has become a comprehensive university, currently providing undergraduate and graduate<br />
education to more than 23,295 students.<br />
GVSU continues to expand its programs, campuses, and services. Grand Valley is a learning community where close student-faculty<br />
interaction enhances both teaching and learning. To support such an environment, the institution encourages<br />
students to participate actively with faculty in all aspects <strong>of</strong> their education, from formal classroom instruction to research,<br />
academic advising, cross-cultural interaction, and extracurricular activities.<br />
One University, Two Campuses.<br />
With an attractive main campus near Allendale, Grand Valley State University <strong>of</strong>fers a safe, friendly atmosphere conducive<br />
to living and learning. The focus here is undergraduate programs, athletics, and student activities.<br />
Our Grand Rapids campus was established in 1988 in response to<br />
a demand for graduate education and urban university services.<br />
The nine-story Eberhard Center quickly filled to capacity and will<br />
soon be joined by a new classroom, business, and library center.<br />
The Meijer Public Broadcast Center, home to GVSU's public radio<br />
and television stations, is also located here.<br />
Grand Valley also meets the need for university education with the<br />
new Meijer Campus in Holland and centers in Muskegon and<br />
Traverse City.<br />
