The early masters of the art of photography, who developed and<br />

evolved the modern photographic process, produced rich quality<br />

images using a variety of light sensitive materials and an intriguing<br />

combination of chemicals. Each kit contains chemicals, paper, gloves,<br />

glass rods and other additional equipment necessary for each process.<br />

Requires contact frame (see page 37) or plexiglass (not included).<br />

In the 1800’s, William Henry Fox Talbot produced the first-<strong>ever</strong> paper photograph; the<br />

technique that he used is now called salt printing. This method produces an effect, very<br />

difficult to reproduce using modern photographic techniques. He noted that slight variations<br />

in the proportions of the chemicals used led to a variety of tints and hues in the<br />

image. This, coupled with slight imperfections, inevitable in silver nitrate coating, ensures<br />

that each salt print is <strong>unique</strong>. A salt print is formed by a process of soaking cleansed<br />

Canelletto Art paper in a salt solution and then coating the sheet with a silver solution. The<br />

paper is then exposed to UV light and stabilized to create an “aged” looking image.<br />

Kit includes,10 sheets 8” x 10” Canelletto paper, 5 sheets 8” x 10” OHP Film, 1 - Buckle brush,<br />

250ml each of salt solution, silver solution and stabilizers along with full instructions.<br />
