<strong>Kesko</strong> complies with laws and regulations in its marketing communications.<br />

Amendments to legislation and authorities’ recommendations<br />

are monitored on a regular basis, and the staffs responsible for<br />

marketing in each unit are kept informed. Sponsorship is guided by<br />

<strong>Kesko</strong>’s sponsorship principles, available at www.kesko.fi/responsibility.<br />

There were no incidents of non-compliance with legislation<br />

or voluntary principles in 2011.<br />

COMPLAINTS REGARDING BREACHES OF CUSTOMER<br />

PRIvACy AND LOSSES OF CUSTOMER DATA, PR8<br />

In 2011, K-Plus Oy received a couple of direct customer contacts<br />

regarding the handling of personal information and checking their<br />

own information. Responses to these enquiries were provided as<br />

part of normal customer service, and they did not lead to further<br />

action. No data leaks were detected in 2011.<br />

According to the Finnish Personal Data Act, in individual cases,<br />

customer data can be used in order to protect the vital interests of<br />

the data subject, without an express consent. Concerning the recall<br />

of food preserves imported by Kespro Ltd in October 2011, Finnish<br />

Food Safety Authority Evira ordered that, in order to protect the<br />

health of consumers who had bought the preserves, that the customers's<br />

contact details be traced with the help of customer and receipt<br />

data registers. Thereby the recall could be carried out by personally<br />

contacting the consumers who had bought the preserves. The data<br />

protection authorities were informed.<br />

No reason for complaint was detected in the inspection by the<br />

Data Protection Ombudsman in 2011. Read more at The Office of<br />
