Economic responsibility<br />

Most of the economic responsibility indicators<br />

in this report on pages 65–70 are<br />

presented based on stakeholder group and<br />

derived from the consolidated financial<br />

statements (www.kesko.fi/investors), whose<br />

preparation and presentation are governed<br />

by the IFRSs (International Financial Reporting<br />

Standards).<br />

In addition, <strong>Kesko</strong>’s report also presents<br />

results material for the divisions, such as<br />

the development of the store site network,<br />

geographical scope of operations and breakdown<br />

of purchases.<br />

Environmental responsibility<br />

At the end of 2011, environmental systems<br />

covered 63% of the <strong>Kesko</strong> companies net<br />

sales in Finland and 53% of the whole<br />

Group’s net sales. The coverage has been<br />

calculated in proportion to retail sales. The<br />

environmental systems used at <strong>Kesko</strong> are<br />

presented on page 72.<br />

VV-Auto Group Oy and its subsidiaries fulfil<br />

the requirements of the ISO 14001 environmental<br />

system and the ISO 9001 quality<br />

system. The operations of Keslog and Anttila<br />

are ISO 14001 certified. In the food trade, the<br />

building and home improvement trade and<br />

agricultural trade, environmental management<br />

is based on the K-environmental store<br />

model – the K-environmental store diploma<br />

(www.kesko.fi/responsibility). The model<br />

is part of the K-citymarket, K-supermarket,<br />

K-market, K-rauta, Rautia and K-maatalous<br />

chain concepts.<br />

Food stores applying for the diploma are<br />

audited by Bureau Veritas, who also perform<br />

The Environmental School of Finland<br />

(SYKLI) is responsible for the audits of<br />

the building and home improvement stores<br />

and for repeat audits conducted every third<br />

year.<br />

The criteria content of the K-environmental<br />

store model is being revised and<br />

its structure was reviewed in <strong>Kesko</strong> Food<br />

during 2011. Rautakesko started the concept<br />

reform in autumn 2011 and the reformed<br />

concept will be introduced during the first<br />

half of 2012.<br />

<strong>Kesko</strong>'s partners in the management<br />

and maintenance of premises are YIT<br />

Kiinteistötekniikka Oy, ISS Palvelut Oy and<br />

Ovenia Oy. YIT Kiinteistötekniikka’s environmental<br />

system has ISO 14001 certification.<br />
