During the project will be realized a German-Russian handbook which will be devoted to current issues <strong>of</strong><br />
museum practice and analyse the role <strong>of</strong> museums as social and communicative institution, focussing<br />
<strong>Belarus</strong>. <strong>Museums</strong> have always been points <strong>of</strong> access to knowledge about cultures and centres <strong>of</strong> formal<br />
and non-formal education; they contribute to mutual understanding and social cohesion, and as are essential<br />
for sustainable human development. <strong>The</strong>y help us to understand where our societies come from, and<br />
apprehend our common future. Having in mind this background, the edition will focus on the problem <strong>of</strong><br />
interaction <strong>of</strong> museums and society and their role as centres <strong>of</strong> knowledge and education<br />
This project will be seen as a landmark to strengthen the capacity <strong>of</strong> <strong>Belarus</strong>ian museums in responding to<br />
the challenges <strong>of</strong> the XXI century.<br />
• Handbook in German and Russian. <strong>The</strong> handbook is part <strong>of</strong> a project <strong>of</strong> the Institute <strong>of</strong> Goethe Minsk,<br />
which will <strong>of</strong>fer more than a half <strong>of</strong> the budget. <strong>The</strong>refore and to be able to spread the handbook in<br />
<strong>Belarus</strong> and the surrounding region, the languages <strong>of</strong> publication will be German and Russian.<br />
• <strong>The</strong> additional CD will provide the printed material <strong>of</strong> the handbook to use as samples and forms for own<br />
projects on any PC.<br />
• Edition: 500 copies, 200 pages, brochure with text, photos, graphics etc., editor: ICOM <strong>Belarus</strong>, Institute<br />
<strong>of</strong> Goethe in Minsk, Tradicia History Service<br />
