Israel Cinema Nights (Meets bi-monthly, beginning in Oc<strong>to</strong>ber)<br />

Contemporary Israeli film is brought <strong>to</strong> the big screen on a bi-monthly basis. Catch a glimpse in<strong>to</strong> Israeli society and<br />

culture through some of Israel’s highly acclaimed films. Films, which are English subtitled, are screened at the Frank<br />

Theaters Intracoastal. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance through the offices of the Israel Programs<br />

Department or at the door, beginning at 7:15 pm. Presented in conjunction with the Israeli House of the Consulate<br />

General of Israel.<br />

Next Film: The Ballad of the Weeping Spring, Thursday, January 10, at 8 pm<br />

Meet Amram, the son of Avraham Mufredi, who turns up at the house of the legendary Persian tar<br />

(lute) player, Yosef Tawilla. Amram gives him the score of a work that his father, a member of Tawill’s<br />

ensemble and his partner, wants <strong>to</strong> see performed before his impending death. Tawilla and<br />

Amram set out on a journey of discovery joined by groups of wonderful musicians. Amram will find<br />

love and Tawilla, if he succeeds; will fulfill Avraham Mufredi’s dying wish, maybe <strong>to</strong> bring succor <strong>to</strong><br />

his <strong>to</strong>rmented soul.<br />

Dancing with the World International Folk Dance Festival •Sunday, February 10, 6pm<br />

At the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theatre<br />

Among the groups performing are: Yachad, Kulanu, Hemschech, Live in Color, Brazarte, Ballet Folklorico Aires<br />

Panamenos, Grupo Folclorico Pure Chile, Venezuela Danza. Special Guest Host: Jesse Camacho.<br />

Bamachol’s 16th <strong>Ann</strong>ual Festival Yahad<br />

•Friday, May 24 - Showcase Performance: at the <strong>Michael</strong>-<strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Russell</strong> JCC<br />

•Sunday, May 26 - Gala Performance: at the Broward <strong>Center</strong> for Performing Arts<br />

•Sunday, June 2 - Children’s Performance: at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theatre<br />

Festival Yachad will again capture the spirit of modern Israel and the richness of <strong>Jewish</strong> tradition and culture through<br />

beautifully choreographed dances, stunning costumes, and traditional & contemporary Israeli <strong>Jewish</strong> music<br />

representing the diversity of the <strong>Jewish</strong> people. More than 450 dancers from the MAR-JCC’s year-round Bamachol<br />

Dance Academy will be featured along with invited Israeli dance groups from abroad.<br />

Tickets go on sale in April.
