The Rabbi Norman Mussman Cultural Arts Department presents quality cultural programming collaborating with other MAR-JCC<br />

departments <strong>to</strong> maximize opportunities for all segments of our community <strong>to</strong> enjoy theatre performances, concerts, films, book<br />

reviews, and <strong>Jewish</strong> educational lectures and seminars.<br />

Alan and Diane Lieberman Children’s Cultural Arts Series - 2012/13 Season<br />

Presented at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theatre. Now in its 18th season, the Alan & Diane Lieberman Children’s<br />

Cultural Arts Series continues <strong>to</strong> present outstanding performances by national and international Theatre companies,<br />

specializing in productions for young audiences. Designed as school field trips, offering FREE admission & FREE<br />

transportation, each show offers an educational message. Schools receive a “study buddy” in advance of the<br />

performance so teachers may better prepare students for their theatre experience. Each show in this year’s series is<br />

an adaptation of a popular children’s book. With a goal <strong>to</strong> promote literacy, each attending class receives a copy<br />

of the book <strong>to</strong> read prior <strong>to</strong> the performance. The second half of the series features:<br />

•THE GRUFFALO (Grades Prek4 – 3) • Wednesday, January 23, 10:15am<br />

Performed by Tall S<strong>to</strong>ries Theatre Company<br />

In this musical adaptation based on the award-winning picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, join<br />

Mouse on an adventurous journey through deep dark woods, where he scares away hungry animals with tall s<strong>to</strong>ries<br />

of the terrifying Gruffalo. However, see what happens when Mouse comes face <strong>to</strong> face with the very creature he<br />

imagined.<br />

•WE’RE GOING ON A BEAR HUNT (Grades PreK4-3) • Wednesday, May 1, 10am<br />

Performed by Bearhunt Productions<br />

Through music and dance, the audience will join intrepid adventurers on their quest <strong>to</strong> find a bear as they wade<br />

through the gigantic swish swashy grass, the splashy splashy river, and the thick oozy, squelchy mud. Based on the<br />

book by <strong>Michael</strong> Rosen and Helen Oxenbury.<br />
