SportS Club D rectory PE, School Sport Club Links (PESSCL) Strategy The PE School Sport and Club Link Strategy has been created by The Department for Education and Skills and Department for Culture Media and Sport to achieve the Government PSA target; raise standards in schools, improve the health of the nation and ensure the UK competes successfully on the international stage. The PESSCL Strategy includes 8 programmes; � Sports colleges � School Sport Partnerships � Professional Development � Step into Sport � Gifted & talented � QcA PeSS Investigation � School/club links � Swimming. The first two strands within the national Pe, School Sport and club Links Strategy have created from September 2006 a national school sports infrastructure by building a network of Sports colleges and School Sport Partnerships. the vision of Sports colleges is to raise standards of achievement in physical education and sport for all their students across the ability range leading to whole school improvement. the Fylde coast boasts 3 Sport colleges: Palatine, collegiate and Fleetwood. these Schools are focal points for promoting excellence in physical education and community sport, extending links between families of schools, sports bodies and communities, sharing resources, developing and spreading good practice and helping to provide a structure through which young people can progress to careers in sport and physical education. the School Sport Partnership Programme is designed to increase the percentage of all school children in england who spend a minimum of 2 hours per week on high quality Pe and School Sport within and beyond the curriculum to 85% by 2008. By 2010 the ambition is to provide 5 hour offer, 2 hours within the curriculum and an additional 2/3 hours in an out of hours context a week for 100% of children. the Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde School Sport Partnerships bring together families of schools, clubs, local authorities, national governing bodies of sport and other community organisations under one umbrella, to provide opportunities in sporting opportunities within and beyond the curriculum.
