AAPI’S NUTRITION GUIDE TO OPTIMAL HEALTH: USING PRINCIPLES OF FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE AND NUTRITIONAL GENOMICS
tools. The focus areas of circadian rhythmicity,
caloric restriction and gut health and their
application to practice have been highlighted, and
the approach to and importance of expansive
database creation and access has been discussed.
Finally, the future expansion of systems biology
and nutritional genomics into ancient Chinese
medical thinking has been contemplated.
Colleen Fogarty Draper is a Registered Dietitian
with Food and Nutrition Science degrees from
Tufts University and Florida State University; and
Research Dietetics Practice Groups of the
Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and
the International Society of Nutrigenomics and
Nutrigenetics (ISNN) in order to strengthen the
scientific knowledge base of the dietitian and the
integration of practice methodologies into nutritional
genomics research. As the Nutritional Genomics
Advisor for the DIFM DPG, Colleen is a
committee member of DIFM petition for Board
of a weight management nutritional genetic test to
clinical research trials, program leadership and
planning/forecasting, and other translational science
initiatives.
Colleen is interested in furthering the research
necessary to make nutritional genomics in practice
a reality. As a result, she is pursuing coursework
in preparation for her PhD; and was recently
