In 2006, FFA embarked on a new adventure – moving the 79th National FFA Convention to Indianapolis, Ind. Known as “The Crossroads of America,” Indianapolis is conveniently located in the nation’s heartland and provides a perfect venue for the 54,489 members, advisors, parents and other guests who attended this grand event. Indianapolis is only the third site for the National FFA Convention. In 1928, the first convention was held in Kansas City, Mo., and it remained the sole venue for the next 70 years. From 1999 through 2005, the honor belonged to Louisville, Ky., and now Indianapolis will host the convention for seven years.
