3. PEllET PRODUCTION WITH<br />

laNTMäNNEN ENERGI, UlRICEHaMN<br />

The factory in Ulricehamn was built in 1981 and was then<br />

only producing woodpowder. In 1994 pellet production<br />

was in<strong>it</strong>iated and in 2001 a fully automatic package system<br />

for pellets in 16 kg sacks was installed. Today the factory<br />

has three pellet presses and a volume of the storage of<br />

37,000 metric tonnes. Since 2003 the factory also delivers<br />

district heating in the municipal net. The participants<br />

in this tour will have information about the factory and basic<br />

information of pellet production.<br />

Cows and their manure produce<br />

methane, a strong greenhouse gas that<br />

should be used as biogas for energy.<br />

The forest tour showing harvest and handling of forest residues is organised<br />

all three days.<br />

4. fIRST BIOMaSS fIRED CHP PlaNT<br />

BaSED ON ORC IN SWEDEN<br />

Opcon Bioenergy is an environmental technology group that<br />

develops, produces and markets systems and products for<br />

ecofriendly, efficient and low-resource energy usage.<br />

Opcon Bioenergy supplied, through <strong>it</strong>s brand Saxlund, a<br />

small-scale biomass fuelled cogeneration plant to Falbygden<br />

Energi. The power plant will supply 2.3 MW of electric<strong>it</strong>y<br />

and 12 MW of district heating. Fuel will be wood chips.<br />

Flue gas condensation and cleaning will be made by the<br />

effective Opcon SRE-systems.<br />

The plant is under the final stages of completion, and will<br />

become operational during autumn 2012. The power plant<br />

is based on thermal oil as heat transfer media, so called<br />

organic ranking cycle (ORC), giving that <strong>it</strong> is an unpressurised<br />

system w<strong>it</strong>h simple, reliable, unmanned operation.<br />

At the vis<strong>it</strong> we will show the plant and go through the various<br />

parts of the process.<br />

5. DME TRUCK aND a DME fUEllING STaTION<br />

In this study vis<strong>it</strong> you are welcome to see a Volvo truck filling<br />

up BioDME at a Preem fuelling station. In the BioDME<br />

project, Volvo Trucks is running a field test using BioDME<br />

produced from biomass from the forest industry in the<br />

northern part of Sweden.<br />

T<strong>here</strong> are four such filling stations in Sweden and one of<br />

them is located in Jönköping. Technology in the fuelling<br />

stations and in the truck will be demonstrated.<br />
