Figure 4-19 shows the sequences for EVA. The Mars walker returns to the base and connects the<br />

suit to the inner hatch. The inner hatch is opened together with the back of the Mars suit. In this<br />

way system contamination is prevented and only a small volume of gas has to be pumped away.<br />

When going for EVA, after prebreathing, the protection cover for the spacesuits folds down and<br />

reveals a ladder for the Mars walker to climb down.
