4 M. HIRANO
1) Haplozyga armata var. raciborskii reported by FOrster & Eckert (1966) from Brazil
was found in the Phu Kradung samples (1965-66 and 1967 collections).
2) The similar form of Ichthyocercus angolensis, the taxon originally reported by West
(1897) from Africa, was found in my samples from Thailand. I. angolensis has the semicell
with a short apical spine; lateral margins of the semicell almost straight and not convex;
slightly concave at the upper part of lateral margins. The similar form of Ichthyocercus lon-
gtspinus was also found in the same locality in Thailand. Moreover, some specimens show
an intermediate form between L angolensis and I. Iongtspinus. Some of the specimens
which I indentified as L longispinas include the shorter and elongated forms. The typical
form of L longtspinus is characteraized by having an elongated semicell, a longer spine,
slightly tumid at the basal part of the semicell. In the typical form of L angolense, the semi-
cell is shorter than that of I. Iongispinus, having a short spine and non-concave lateral mar-
gins.
3) Xanthidium multispinosum sp. nov. from Thailand is similar to X. freemanii var. spi-
nossissimum reported by Islam (1970) from Dacca, Pakistan. However, the new species is
distinguished from the latter by the different form of the semicell.
4) Among the Micrasterias species from Thailand, are some which have a curious form
of the semicell divided into two small pieces toward its central direction. Although the simi-
lar phenomenon was already reported in M. doveri var. africana by many authors, no report
has been found in any of other Microsterias species. The form showing the similar variation
which I have found in my samples of Micrasterias rotata from Thailand will be described in
the present paper as M. rotata var. curvata var. nov.
