continued to be a major improvement in the quality of instruments the All-State percussionists
were exposed to.
Mr. Crandell announced that the 2012 All-State Conductor would be Dr. Linda Moorhouse,
Visiting Associate Professor of Music at the University of Illinois, Champaign, Il.
Mr. Crandell announced the following recommended changes for the 2012 festival:
• Eliminate Eb Clarinet from the initial audition process and increase the number of Bb
Clarinets accepted by 6. If the Eb part is required, students accepted on fi rst part will
be required to audition on the Eb part as part of chair placement auditions (similar to
how English Horn is handled).
All three chairs expressed their thanks to Donna Barr and Alan Greiner for professional
work and assistance in attending to the details of this festival and to the audition managers
from the six sites used by the All-State Festival.
Director Greiner reviewed the concert order for the 2012 festival and reiterated the audition
date as October 20, 2012 and the fi nale dates as November 15-17, 2012.
The Director provided recommendations from the IBA Concert Band Affairs Committee:
• to raising the maximum number of entries from 28 to 36 or implement a system
where scratch slots can be fi lled the day of auditions.
Director Greiner was instructed to organize a joint meeting of the IMEA Exec Board, IHS-
MA Exec Committee, the All-State Chairs, ICDA Liaison Committee, and the IBA Concert
Band Affairs committee so that this matter can be discussed and addressed.
Director Greiner provided a detailed plan for providing meals for All-State participants using
HyVee Catering and serving those meals on the concourse of Hilton Coliseum during
the festival. MMS (Law/Philgreen) to utilize HyVee Catering for all meals except Saturday
evening prior to the concert with that meal being provided by ISU Dining at Season’s
Marketplace. PASSED
MMS (Law/Fritz) to eliminate Eb Clarinets from the initial audition process as proposed by
the All-State Band Chair. PASSED
MMS (Reiker/Stogdill) to approve the slate of conductors as presented. PASSED
Next meeting date will be coordinated with the IMEA June meeting.
