Director Greiner presented a report on behalf of Chris Crandell regarding the 2011 All-<br />
State Band. Mr. Crandell cited the outstanding work of Dr. Scott Jones and the All-State<br />
Band. He expressed his appreciation for the efforts of his assistants, Myron Peterson, Urbandale;<br />
Thad Driskell, Cedar Rapids; and his percussion assistant, Chris Ewan, Ames.<br />
Mr. Crandell also cited the work of Brooke Croshier-Sidebotham and the staff of the Hilton<br />
Coliseum. Mr. Crandell thanked Mike Golemo and the ISU Faculty for their efforts,<br />
continued cooperation, and support. He also thanked Lauren Calkin and the Percussion<br />
Source for their continued support of the festival by providing percussion instruments for<br />
the band. He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Mary Citta and Ann Gribbins<br />
in coordinating rehearsal schedules and students.<br />
<strong>The</strong> All-State Band Chairs surveyed the All-State Band and found that:<br />
79% of the students accepted study privately<br />
60.4% of the students were there for the 1st time.<br />
27.3% of the students were there for the 2nd time.<br />
11.2% of the students were there for the 3rd time.<br />
1.2% of the students were there for the 4th time.<br />
16 students had been members of both the All-State Band and Orchestra<br />
1 student had been a member of both the All-State Band and Chorus<br />
87% of the 2011 Band was made up of students from Class 3A/4A with the majority<br />
of that number coming from class 3A not 4A.<br />
Mr. Crandell also provided a statistical breakdown by instrument of those audition vs.<br />
those accepted.<br />

Mr. Crandell expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Percussion Source/West<br />
<strong>Music</strong> in Coralville, for again providing most of the major percussion instruments and<br />
