1.2 Explanation of Relays<br />

Function of external output relays (Y)<br />

This relay outputs the program execution result of the programmable controller and<br />

activates an external device (load) such as a solenoid, operating panel or intelligent<br />

unit.<br />

The on or off status of the external output relay is output as a control signal.<br />

Usage restrictions<br />

External output relays which are not actually allocated can be used in the same way as<br />

internal relays. However, they cannot be specified as hold types.<br />

When used as contacts, there are no restrictions on the number of times that can be<br />

used.<br />

As a rule, when specified as the output destination for operation results of OT and KP<br />

instructions, use is limited to once in a program (to inhibit double output).<br />

Note<br />

You can permit duplicated use of an output by changing the<br />

system register 20 setting. Even if the same relay is used as an<br />

operand for instructions such as SET and RST, it is not regarded<br />

as duplicated use of outputs.<br />
