■ Diamond
Diamond made from carbon has low afinity to non-metals, which
brings excelent adhesion resitance. Diamond also has excelent wear
resistance due to its highest hardness. However, diamond was not
appropriate material for cuting tools because of its low toughness.
PCD is a material which solved the issue of strength without
sacrificing diamond's advantage by sintering micro grain diamond to
generate polycrystal condition. PCD can machine non-metals at
higher speed and show beter adhesion resistance than carbide that is
generaly used for non-metal machining. Great improvement in
eficiency can be expected for aluminum machining, which is
increasing rapidly recently.
■ Cermet
has two kinds of cermet: TiC-TiN Cermet and Nitride Cermet.
TiC-TiN Cermet has been developed by adding titanium nitride to the
converntional cermet to achieve much finer structure. TiC-TiN Cermet
has improved hardness and shows excelent high-speed cuting
performance. Nitride Cermet is tough and has a special aloy structure
mainly composed of titanium nitride, instead of TiC. Compared to
carbide, cermet is beter in oxidation resistance and thermal
resistance and can perform cuting at higher speed. Moreover, cermet
brings beter surface finish because of beter adhesion resistance
which is brought from its low afinity to ferous metals.

T3N has the best durability against abrasion
and deformation of al cermets. T3N works
best in high speed finish applications.
Z15 is PVD coated with TiN on T15 and
further improves wear resistance and surface
finish.

T15 is a multi-purpose cermet with welbalanced
durability against abrasion and Semi finish, finish
breakage. Its low afinity for work material
prevents build-up edge.

C7X is a cermet with superior thermal shock resistance.
Possible to cut dry or wet and improve the tool life due to
excelent shock resistance. C7Z is PVD coated with TiN on C7X
N20 and N40 are very tough cermets that contain titanium
nitride as main component, which has excelent toughness. N20
and N40 show good perfomance at low cutting speed range,
