INFRONT GROUP
COMPANY PROFILE
Number one in winter sports
Infront is the strongest, most experienced marketing agency in the winter sports arena,
representing six out of seven Olympic winter sport federations. This includes a long-term
partnership with the IIHF in world ice hockey and a major role in international skiing, where it
is a partner of the majority of national skiing federations hosting FIS World Cup
competitions, including the prestigious Vierschanzentournee. Through its close working
relationship with the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS), Infront is also involved in the
distribution of media and marketing rights of other FIS events.
Infront holds an exclusive mandate from Swiss Olympic for the project lead of a potential
Swiss bid for the Olympic Winter Games 2022. The company also brought the famous
European ‘Art on Ice’ ice skating show to China, in close collaboration with Art on Ice
Production AG. It also has a mandate to distribute media rights to the Kontinental Hockey
League (KHL) in Asia.
Long-term partnerships with the IBSF for bobsleigh and skeleton, FIL for luge, the IBU for
biathlon and the WCF for curling complete Infront’s winter sports portfolio. As a result
Infront is able to offer the very best winter sports opportunities from one central source.
A unique heritage and portfolio in football
Infront has a unique heritage in football, supporting the game at every level — federation
(international / national), league and club.
Working with FIFA, the biggest sports federation in the world, the company handles the
Asian media rights for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in a joint venture with Dentsu. In 2011,
Infront was appointed exclusive sales representative for the distribution of Asian media
rights also to the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and Other FIFA Events 2015-22. The
company also markets the 2014 FIFA World Cup Corporate Hospitality packages in Italy,
Switzerland and Liechtenstein. For the UEFA EURO 2012, Infront provided its state-of-theart
LED systems for all venues. Infront also works with many national associations, including
INFRONT GROUP
COMPANY PROFILE
In motor sports, Infront is the preferred marketing partner to the eni FIM Superbike World
Championship (SBK). In endurance sports the company is a partner to the World Triathlon
Corporation (WTC) for Ironman and Ironman 70.3 events — marketing the sponsorship for
European and South-African races and serving as a media rights advisor. From 2013
onwards, Infront also has an all-encompassing media, marketing and production role for the
BMW Berlin-Marathon. In cycling, Infront distributes the media rights to the UCI Road, Track,
Mountain Bike and BMX World Championships until 2016 — as partner to the International
Cycling Union (UCI). Furthermore, it has agreements in place to manage the commercial
activities of Swiss Cycling — the national umbrella organisation of the sport in Switzerland. It
is also involved in equestrian sport, marketing the annual Piazza di Siena event in Rome.
Through its subsidiary in China, Infront represents the country’s top sport, basketball. The
agreement with the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) covers all key aspects of not just
the marketing but also the development of the Chinese national teams and the CBA League.
A key player in media production
Infront is also one of the world’s leading producers of the highest quality sports content,
covering the entire spectrum of media production and management, from signal production
and transmission to post production, digital media delivery and archive services. It is also a
pioneer in the development of 3D coverage as a medium for live sport.
The host broadcast of world events is carried out through Host Broadcast Services (HBS),
Infront’s wholly-owned subsidiary. This company is a world-recognised resource for the host
broadcast of major events, such as the FIFA World Cup which require highly sophisticated
broadcast industry facilities and services. HBS works with International Federations
including FIFA for the FIFA World Cup and Other FIFA Events; UEFA for the UEFA EURO
events as well as with national leagues and with the organisers of multi-sports games.
With the assistance of Sky and Mediaset, Infront also organises and supervises the full HDTV
production of most Lega Serie A and B matches in Italy. In addition, it handles a significant
number of production-led projects, with shorter lead times for implementation and lighter
broadcast infrastructure — for example flagship FIS World Cup events, the eni FIM Superbike
World Championship, selected national football games and the IIHF Ice Hockey World
Championship.
Another important area of activity is the distribution of new media sports rights through the
provision of services to major web, mobile and IPTV players and telecoms. Infront’s
dedicated competence centre for digital media and post production provides one-stop-shop
solutions for producing, editing, delivering, protecting and billing new media content. It helps
rights owners to exploit existing media rights more effectively by exposing sports to a highly
targeted viewing group. The company produces a variety of tailor-made new media services
and broadcast programmes for the FIS World Cup, the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship,
Euroleague Basketball, Milan Media Factory and Pokerstars.
It is also Infront’s responsibility to manage two key football archives. FIFA Films and the
Serie A Archive offer a comprehensive selection of historic football footage to service the
specific needs of producers, television networks and all other media operators worldwide.
CBA League, including the remarkable CBA All-Star weekend. Only recently, the contracts
for Team China Basketball and the CBA League have been extended until 2018 and 2017
Infront has created tremendous momentum for Chinese basketball, resulting in record levels
European based companies and sports to access the Chinese market and vice versa by
