Welcome to Our 2009 Schedule of U.S. Training Programs<br />

In today’s rapidly changing pharmaceutical industry, the successful professional needs highly<br />

developed skills to interpret and use a broad array of market information.<br />

<strong>IMS</strong> provides training programs to clients all over the world. These training courses introduce clients<br />

to the wealth of information available, helping them improve their job-related analytical skills<br />

through real-world exercises, case studies, and simulations. The training objectives are met through<br />

a variety of delivery methods and blended classroom learning. <strong>IMS</strong> provides high-level data and tool<br />

overviews via computer-based tutorials, webinars, and other eLearning platforms, as well as<br />

in-depth instructor-led workshops. Each course varies based on content and client need.<br />

In the U.S., courses are offered in our Pennsylvania and New Jersey offices. <strong>IMS</strong> also offers ad hoc<br />

classes at client sites, which can be customized to meet the client’s individual needs and<br />

requirements.<br />

The U.S. product training courses examine the areas of Product and Portfolio<br />

Management, Commercial Effectiveness, and Managed Markets. The focus is on<br />

<strong>IMS</strong> data and decision support systems (PC-based software applications), as well<br />

as several pharmaceutical industry topics.<br />

The Global Services product training courses examine the areas of market research<br />

data/information applications and <strong>IMS</strong> PC-based software applications for our<br />

global products and services.<br />

Dataview Analyzer is an <strong>IMS</strong> Windows ® -based database analysis tool. This course<br />

teaches you how to use Analyzer to create market research reports and manipulate<br />

them from the National Disease and Therapeutic Index (NDTI) database delivered<br />

on CD.<br />

This <strong>Course</strong> Will Enable You To:<br />

• Create reports from the NDTI database on CD using Dataview Analyzer<br />

• Build simple reports and use refinement features<br />

• Calculate statistics quickly within <strong>IMS</strong> data<br />

• Export data in three different formats<br />

• Generate graphs from Analyzer spreadsheets<br />

• Build complex reports that require the crosstabulation, redefining, and/or<br />

grouping of data<br />

• Understand the Wrxite Decision data, which is a product line extension to the<br />

NDTI database<br />

Audience<br />

This course has been designed for market research analysts, data technicians,<br />

product managers, and others who need to analyze <strong>IMS</strong> market research audit data.<br />

Recommended for clients that utilize Dataview Analyzer.<br />

Prerequisites<br />

An overview knowledge of <strong>IMS</strong> pharmaceutical audits and PC literacy are required.<br />

You can gain a basic understanding of NDTI by completing the NDTI computer-based<br />

tutorial (CBT), which is available upon request at time of registration.<br />

This course is for Dataview users who have taken the Building Queries class, and are<br />

now ready to explore the more advanced features in Dataview. The user will be<br />

instructed on the logic of how Dataview processes the customization features in your<br />

more complex reports.<br />

This <strong>Course</strong> Will Enable You To:<br />

• Formulate and create customized report queries to support complex<br />

situation-based market research questions<br />

• Understand how the limit and exclusions features are structured<br />

• Explore further into the Redefinitions and Groupings features<br />

Dataview is an <strong>IMS</strong> Windows®-based, PC data delivery system. This course teaches<br />

you how to use Dataview to obtain market research data from the <strong>IMS</strong> central<br />

mainframe system, and download it to a PC or LAN for manipulation and analysis.<br />

This <strong>Course</strong> Will Enable You To:<br />

• Recognize how Dataview can be used to facilitate market research<br />

• Identify the two methods for accessing <strong>IMS</strong> data using Dataview<br />

• Formulate and create report queries in response to market research questions<br />
