206 A5: Addendum
of simpler novel chemicals as insecticides. Given
that more than 80% of global insecticide sales
today utilize four different target sites all involving
neurotransmission, there should be interest in pursuing
the final goal of synthetic ligands at the azadirachtin
target site. Only then will the true
potential of this novel insecticide be realized as a
safe, environmentally sound pesticide for crop protection
in its widest sense.
