THE ANNUAL COLLECTION
The year started with fireworks ceremonies
circling the globe. That global celebration set
the tone for the year. We are pleased to offer you
an annual collection that is as spectacular as the
year it chronicles.
As a thank you to our loyal customers, we
have absorbed the additional production costs
for the luxurious stock and design treatment
used for this year’s collections. Purchasers of
this collection will also receive a unique,
composite Gold Medallists stamp sheet. The
composite sheet – made up of one Gold
Medallist stamp from each of Gold Medallists
sheets issued during the Olympic Games – will
be only available in the collections.
From cover to cover, every element of this
year’s collection reflects the historic nature of
the year. For the deluxe edition the cover and
slip case are printed on metallic silver
Skivertex® . A CD style reflective foil reflects all
the colours of the spectrum when moved. A
second foil is used to highlight the title text on
both the slip case and cover.
Instead of the CD foil, the design is debossed
into the cover. The executive edition’s gilt
edged pages are bound with black leather like
material, embossed with gold foil and features
brass corner protectors.
The designer has given the collection a lively
dynamic look to best reflect each of the issues in
this landmark year. The stamps and miniature
sheets are accompanied by a background
narrative, additional images and unifying
elements from the cover design. The stamp
designs, the complementary images and
illustrations and the text combine to tell the
rich cultural, philatelic and historical Australian

stories that are behind each issue.
The silver detail and typography used on the
cover and slip case is echoed in the spreads.
Sidebars and metallic silver ink unify the
spreads, tie the overall design to the cover
treatment, and lift the design.
For collectors, the year 2000 was a year of
firsts: the first stamp range designed for
International postage, the first stamps issued to
celebrate each Gold Medal won by an
Australian individual or team.
It was a year to commemorate events past:
the lead up to federation, 50th anniversary of
the Korean War, and the Centenary of the first
Australian Victoria Cross.
It was a year to celebrate events present: the
Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
And it was a year of lasts, the last Anzacs.
These issues, as well as the Face of Australia,
Arts Festivals, Gardens, the Queen’s Birthday,
Nature and Nation, Space, and Christmas come
together in the Collection of 2000 Australian Stamps.
As in the past, collectors can chose between
the deluxe and executive editions. The two
editions have the same content, and represent
excellent value for money. The face value of the
stamps and miniature sheets in the collection is
$68.00 (does not include the value of the
exclusive, composite Gold Medallists sheet,
which is unknown at the time of printing).
The normal price for the Deluxe edition is
$87.50, $117.50 for the Executive.
However, if you place your order before
27 December you will receive a special
pre-Christmas price of $82.50 (Deluxe) and
$112.50 (Executive).
