This exhibition coincides with the launch of the<br />
Face of <strong>Australia</strong> <strong>stamp</strong> issue, which captures<br />
the face of our nation as a mosaic of individual<br />
photographic images. The issue is made up of<br />
the photographic portraits of a range of everyday<br />
<strong>Australia</strong>ns. Together these individuals give us a<br />
unique glimpse of the different cultural groups<br />
that characterise <strong>Australia</strong> today.<br />
The exhibition will use the archival collection<br />
to show the important role photography,<br />
especially artistic portraiture, has played in<br />
establishing <strong>Australia</strong>’s official identity.<br />

engraving technique in the production of dies in<br />
