This makes the season very challenging. We do have good nucleus to build the team on and the attitude and dedication of the players and coaching staff will go a long way in determining the outcome of the season. Regarding personnel losses: Principal losses from 1974 were Jim Upchurch (FB) and Willie Hamilton (HB) on offense; and Roussell Williams and Vince Phason (defensive backs); and punter Mitch Hoopes. But, replacements seem to be adequate, according to Coach Young. "As a matter of fact, we have the best depth ever at running JIM YOUNG Head Coach September 20—Pacific Tucson September 27—Wyoming October 4—Northwestern Laramie Tucson October 11—Texas-El Paso back," says Young.
