HOMER WARNER
Quarter back. Salt Lake City, Utah, Junior 1VL, Ht: 5-10, Wt:165
Born: 3-6-53, East High School.
AT UTAH: Homer came back after a two year layoff for an L.D.S.
mission and started at quarterback against L.S.U. in the season finale.
Warner used shifty running to gain good yardage on the option. Homer
is also a fine passer even while on the run as a scrambler. He hit 15-30
passes for 166 yards and one touchdown. Although not big, Warner
knows how to run a football team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played tennis, football and wrestled. Named to allstate
football team, was also the captain. Member of the honor roll and
was class president.
PERSONAL: Majoring in computer science, aspires to go into biophysics
research. Father is a doctor and played football at the U. admires his
father the most.
MIKE WEBB
Offensive tackle, Nekoosa, Wisconsin, Junior, Ht: 6-3, Wt: 245
Born: 3-23-55, Nekoosa High School
AT UTAH: Mike was moved from defense to offense during the spring
to give some needed depth to the line. Coaches feel that if he puts his
mind to it he could be the finest lineman on the squad. Mike has great
strength in both upper and lower body. This gives him what it takes to
open the offensive tackle play.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was state heavyweight wrestling champion. Allconference
for three years in football and second team all-state. Earned
ten letters - football (3), track (3), and wrestling (4).
PERSONAL: People he respects the most are his parents and his high
school football coach. Favorite pro athlete is Joe Greene. Majoring in
recreation. Father is a pipe fitter.
MICHAEL WEEKS
Guard-Tight End, Sacramento, California, Sophomore, Ht: 6-4, Wt: 226
Born: 12-1-54, Foothill High School
AT UTAH: Mike has been one of the most versatile athletes to play at
Utah. He has played tight end and defensive end last season. This
spring coaches felt Mike had found a home at offensive guard. Last year
at tight end he had six receptions for 70 yards. After a fine spring at
offensive guard, Mike will be giving his quarterback time to throw to
someone else. He will be counted on this fall to open up the holes for
the Ute runners. Weeks' good speed and size makes him a great pulling
guard.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played football and basketball, received three varsity
letters.
PERSONAL: Father attended Western Montana and played football,
basketball. Is a member of US Air Force. Majoring in political science,
aspires to be a lawyer. Nicknamed Wolf man.
HARLAN WEISE
Center, Dallas, Texas, Junior 1VL, Ht: 6-1, Wt: 220, Born:
11-15-54, Thomas Jefferson High School.
AT UTAH: Last season Harlan was called on to start at linebacker when
Dave O'Bagy was injured. He made 41 tackles and had two fumble
recoveries in his first year at Utah. Coaches feel Weise is a true team
leader which is the reason he has been moved to offensive center this
spring. Harlan had a great spring and has become the cornerstone of the
offensive line. Coaches feel he has a real future ahead of him at Utah.
HIGH SCHOOL: Participated on 11-4A District Championship football
team in 1971 and 1972. Was the team captain and was named all-league
all-city. . . Was also a member of the student council and the honor roll.
Also earned a letter in track for the weight events.
PERSONAL: Aspires to be a coach, majoring in business finance.
Nicknamed Dutch . . admires his father the most.
