BOB SWEENEY „ iAl oon D Fullback, KalisDell. Montana, sophomore, Ht: 6-3, Wt: 230, Born: 1-10-55, Flathead High School. AT UTAH: Bob was redshirted last year but looks to be a strong candidate to take over at fullback. He runs with authority inside and is able to pick up the tough yard. Bob is like having an offensive guard in the backfield when he is called on to lead the blocking. He has all the tools to be an outstanding running back and could really shine if he gets down to business. HIGH SCHOOL: Fantastic student and all-around athlete. Was class president, member of student council, National Honor Society, was a delegate to Boy's State, student representative to district school board and a member of the all-state choir. Earned five letters - football (2), basketball (2), track (1). Many honors for football . . . captain, state rushing leader, all-state, held school records for career rushing, game rushing and times carried, both career and game. Former US Air Force Academy cadet and was self-defense champ there. PERSONAL: Majoring in english and philosophy, aspires to be a lawyer. Favorite pro athlete is Larry Csonka. Person he respects the most is his father. TERRY TAYLOR Defensive back. Salt Lake City, Utah, Junior, Ht: 6-0, Wt: 195, Born: 6-21-55, Skyline High School. AT UTAH: Terry saw limited playing time during his sophomore year. Coaches are looking for him to give depth at any of the defensive backfield positions. Terry had a good spring that left him ready to step in and play when needed. His mark on the field is the hard hitting style of football he enjoys. He uses his speed to unload on pass receivers. HIGH SCHOOL: Two year all-stater in football. Captain of the football and wrestling teams. Earned nine letters, three each in football, track and wrestling. Were state football champs in 1971, state track champs in 1972. PERSONAL: Person he respects the most is his mother. Majoring in leisure studies, aspires to be a commercial recreation operator. VAL VAUGHN Offensive guard. Bountiful, Utah, sophomore, Ht: 6-1, Wt: 221, Born: 10-11-55, Bountiful High School. AT UTAH: Val had a good spring as an offensive guard and gave coaches the indication that he wanted to play At the close of spring drills he was listed as number three man at this position, but if his development continues he could see game action this fall. HIGH SCHOOL: Set a school record in shot put and discus Earned three letters for track, one for football. Named to the all-star team in football. PERSONAL: Undecided major. Father is a real estate salesman. LARRY WALL Defensive end. Bountiful, Utah, Junior, Ht: 6-0, Wt: 177, Born: 8-27-55, Viewmont High School. AT UTAH: Wall was moved from defensive back to defensive end this spring. Coaches were afraid his size would hurt him up front, but the worry was quickly erased. Larry has become one of the most aggresive and hardest hitting players on the squad. He has now just started to develop toward his full potential. Last season Larry was a leader on the kickoff team by running by blockers to make the tackles. He will see a lot of playing time this year at his new spot. HIGH SCHOOL: Outstanding athlete who was captain of the football team along with being an all-region and all-state performer. Was also basketball captain and prep of the week. His teams were football state champs in 1971, baseball state champs in 1973, state runner-up in basketball in 1972. Won nine varsity letters, three in each sport. PERSONAL: Undecided major. Father participated in football, basketball and baseball in high school. 22

HOMER WARNER Quarter back. Salt Lake City, Utah, Junior 1VL, Ht: 5-10, Wt:165 Born: 3-6-53, East High School. AT UTAH: Homer came back after a two year layoff for an L.D.S. mission and started at quarterback against L.S.U. in the season finale. Warner used shifty running to gain good yardage on the option. Homer is also a fine passer even while on the run as a scrambler. He hit 15-30 passes for 166 yards and one touchdown. Although not big, Warner knows how to run a football team. HIGH SCHOOL: Played tennis, football and wrestled. Named to allstate football team, was also the captain. Member of the honor roll and was class president. PERSONAL: Majoring in computer science, aspires to go into biophysics research. Father is a doctor and played football at the U. admires his father the most. MIKE WEBB Offensive tackle, Nekoosa, Wisconsin, Junior, Ht: 6-3, Wt: 245 Born: 3-23-55, Nekoosa High School AT UTAH: Mike was moved from defense to offense during the spring to give some needed depth to the line. Coaches feel that if he puts his mind to it he could be the finest lineman on the squad. Mike has great strength in both upper and lower body. This gives him what it takes to open the offensive tackle play. HIGH SCHOOL: Was state heavyweight wrestling champion. Allconference for three years in football and second team all-state. Earned ten letters - football (3), track (3), and wrestling (4). PERSONAL: People he respects the most are his parents and his high school football coach. Favorite pro athlete is Joe Greene. Majoring in recreation. Father is a pipe fitter. MICHAEL WEEKS Guard-Tight End, Sacramento, California, Sophomore, Ht: 6-4, Wt: 226 Born: 12-1-54, Foothill High School AT UTAH: Mike has been one of the most versatile athletes to play at Utah. He has played tight end and defensive end last season. This spring coaches felt Mike had found a home at offensive guard. Last year at tight end he had six receptions for 70 yards. After a fine spring at offensive guard, Mike will be giving his quarterback time to throw to someone else. He will be counted on this fall to open up the holes for the Ute runners. Weeks' good speed and size makes him a great pulling guard. HIGH SCHOOL: Played football and basketball, received three varsity letters. PERSONAL: Father attended Western Montana and played football, basketball. Is a member of US Air Force. Majoring in political science, aspires to be a lawyer. Nicknamed Wolf man. HARLAN WEISE Center, Dallas, Texas, Junior 1VL, Ht: 6-1, Wt: 220, Born: 11-15-54, Thomas Jefferson High School. AT UTAH: Last season Harlan was called on to start at linebacker when Dave O'Bagy was injured. He made 41 tackles and had two fumble recoveries in his first year at Utah. Coaches feel Weise is a true team leader which is the reason he has been moved to offensive center this spring. Harlan had a great spring and has become the cornerstone of the offensive line. Coaches feel he has a real future ahead of him at Utah. HIGH SCHOOL: Participated on 11-4A District Championship football team in 1971 and 1972. Was the team captain and was named all-league all-city. . . Was also a member of the student council and the honor roll. Also earned a letter in track for the weight events. PERSONAL: Aspires to be a coach, majoring in business finance. Nicknamed Dutch . . admires his father the most. 23
