MIKE SCHISZLER<br />

Offensive tackle, Reno, Nevada, Junior 1VL, Ht: 6-3V4, Wt: 240<br />

Born: 3-18-54, Reno High School.<br />

AT UTAH: Mike was a starter last season at <strong>of</strong>fensive tackle as a<br />

sophomore. He has the size that enables him to open holes against the<br />

biggest <strong>of</strong> tackles but the quickness to keep out the opposition on a pass.<br />

Mike owes his quick success to excellent <strong>football</strong> fundamentals and<br />

techniques. He should develop into one <strong>of</strong> the finest <strong>of</strong>fensive tackles<br />

to play at Utah if he keeps going this way.<br />

HIGH SCHOOL: All-state and lineman <strong>of</strong> the year in <strong>football</strong>. Earned<br />

six letters, three each in <strong>football</strong> and track. Northern champions in<br />

1972 and 1973.<br />

PERSONAL: Majoring in commercial recreation, aspires to work in<br />

sporting goods, especially scuba. Person he respects the most is his<br />

father.<br />

RON SMALL<br />

Safety, Stockton, California, Junior, Ht: 6-1, Wt: 185, Born: 4-28-53,<br />

Edison High School.<br />

AT UTAH: Ron is one <strong>of</strong> the finest J.C. transfers to come to Utah in<br />

years. He had an excellent spring practice and looks to be starting in the<br />

defensive backfield. He has good speed and uncanny anticipation <strong>of</strong><br />

where the pass is going to go. Ron has proved he is not afraid to hit<br />

and jarred a few receivers this spring. Coaches are looking for Small to<br />

be a leader in the defensive backfield.<br />

HIGH SCHOOL: Very active in high school. Earned nine letters in<br />

four sports - <strong>football</strong> (3), baseball (3), track (2), basketball (1). Was<br />

named all-city second team in baseball. Played on championship<br />

basketball team for Central California Conference. Was senior class<br />

president and member <strong>of</strong> student council. Attended San Joaquin Delta<br />

JC. Won two letters in <strong>football</strong> . . . was all-conference two years,team's<br />

most valuable back. Member <strong>of</strong> the president's honor roll.<br />

PERSONAL: Person he respects the most is his mother. Favorite pro<br />

athlete is OJ Simpson. Majoring in psychology, would like to be a<br />

counselor. Biggest thrill was throwing four TD passes in a game and<br />

getting a game winning double in the Gus Gallagher baseball tourney.<br />

ROLAND SOLOMON ,., „,e _<br />

Defensive back YAFB, California, Junior, Ht: 6-1 , Wt: 176, Born:<br />

2-6-56, Cabrillo High School.<br />

AT UTAH: Roland finished an excellent spring season at defensive back.<br />

This fall he should be a starter in the secondary and coaches are<br />

counting on him to do the job. He has outstanding speed, 4.5 in the 40<br />

which makes him one <strong>of</strong> the fastest Utes. Roland is a hard hitter and<br />

comes up like a freight train on running plays but has the speed to coyer<br />

the deep patterns. He has all the physical tools but now needs varsity<br />

game experience. c . ..<br />

HIGH SCHOOL: Great trackster, named all-league, all-Clh and allstate<br />

in track. All-county and all-league in <strong>football</strong>. Nine letters, three<br />

each in track,, <strong>football</strong> and basketball. Were northern league track<br />

champions in 1973 and 1974.<br />

PERSONAL: Majoring in physical education. Nicknamed King Solomon.<br />

Father in the Air Force. Rod Milburn is favorite pro athlete. People he<br />

respects the most are his parents.<br />
