KIRK BLOSCH Offensive Guard Salt Lake City, Utah junior 1VL Ht: 6-0, Wt: 220 Born: 6-5-54 West High School. AT UTAH: Kirk moved from middle guard to offensive guard this spring. He finished the spring drills as the starting guard on his side. He is very quick and is able to get the first lick on the line. Kirk has the speed to lead sweeps as well as drop back quickly to protect the passer. Coaches are counting on him to put it together this year. HIGH SCHOOL: Named to All-State Football Team. Won two letters for football. Team was the region champions. PERSONEL: Undecided major at the U. Father is a safety inspector. RICK BOURDEAUX Defensive Back Salt Lake City, Utah junior 1VL Ht: 6-0 Wt: 175 Born: 1-1-55 West High School. AT UTAH: The defensive backfield will have Rick playing there for his second year. As a starter last year at defensive halfback he had 24 unassisted and 14 assisted tackles. During the spring Rick tried his hand at flanker on the offensive unit. This fall Rick may see some offensive action along with his duties on defense. Rick also may see some action running back kickoffs. He is an excellent athlete who can play many positions. HIGH SCHOOL: All-around athlete who won eight letters — football (3), track (2), basketball (3). All-state football and two time all-region player. Basketball and football regional champs. Member of Honor Roll. PERSONAL: Majoring in mining engineering. Person he respects the most is his father. Muhammed AM is favorite pro athlete. Father is retired. MICHAEL BROWN Kicker, Riverton, Wyoming, Senior 1VL, Ht: 5-11, Wt: 175, Born: 1-27-53, Riverton High School AT UTAH: Brown did all of the Ute kicking and punting last season. He finished second to Willie Armstead in team scoring with 21 points. Mike averaged 38 yards per punt last fall including a 65 yarder. He He should add consistency to the Ute Kicking game. HIGH SCHOOL: Was the state champion in the pole vault. Named All-region and all-state in basketball. Basketball and track teams were region champions. Earned nine letters, three each in football, track and basketball. Member of the national honor society. Played at Air Force Academy, football and basketball. Also attended Casper J.C. PERSONAL: Nicknamed Brownie. Majoring in Business Management. Favorite pro athlete is Jack Nicklaus. Most admires his father. Married to former Geralynn Hart. DAVID CERBIN Offensive tackle. Orange, California, Junior, Ht: 6-4, Wt: 250, Born: 7-22-55, Burbank High School. AT UTAH: David, a J.C. transfer, is the largest man on the Ute squad. He stepped into a starting position at offensive tackle this spring. David could be the key to Utah's new power I running game. He not only has great size but is very fast for his 6-4 build. Coaches feel he will be a mainstay on the offensive line Utah needs. David will be filling the spot left vacant by the graduation of Dave Dahl. HIGH SCHOOL: Played in the East-West all-star game. All-league and all-valley player. Lettered in football and baseball. Were league champions. Member of the honor roll. Also played football at Santa Ana Community College. PERSONAL: His father is a clergyman, and the person he respects the most. Majoring in physical education and aspires to be a coach. Nicknamed Mountain. Favorite pro athlete is Deacon Jones. 12

FRANK COLLINS Wide Receiver, Beaver Falls, Pa., Junior 2VL, Ht. 5-9, Wt. 168, Born: 7-31-54, Beaver Falls High School. AT UTAH: As a flanker last season Collins was second on the team in pass receiving with 16 catches for 251 yards. He also led the team in kickoff returns with 44 for 907 yards and a 20.6 yard average per return. Collins is one of the faster players on the team having been clocked at 4.5 in the forty yard dash. He is an excellent runner once he catches the ball. HIGH SCHOOL: At Beaver Falls High School, Collins earned six letters in football and track. He was an All-Conference selection in football and was named County Back of the Week. He also received the Joe Namath Award given to the top athlete in his high school. He was also a member of Honor Roll. PERSONAL. Frank is majoring in telecommunications and hopes to be a sports Commentator someday. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Collins and his dad once played baseball for a New York Yankee farm club. MIKE CORDY Wide Receiver, Fairfield, California, Junior 1VL Ht: 6-0, Wt: 170 Born 1-7-54, Armijo High School. AT UTAH: Mike saw plenty of playing time last season, a fact which should helphimthis year. He caught 2 passes for 102 yards. Mikeisa very smart receiver and is noted for his excellent hands and good moves. He will be an asset on offense this season. HIGH SCHOOL: A nine sport lettermen at Armijo High School, Mike starred in football, basketball, and baseball. He was All-League and All-City 2 years in football and basketball and was All-League (3 yrs). All-City (4 years) and All-State in baseball as an outfielder. PERSONAL: A physical education major, Mike is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Cordy. VINSON COTTON Tailback, Bakersfield, California, Sophomore, Ht: 5-10, Wt: 190 Born: 5-1-55, South High School AT UTAH: Vinson was one of the finest freshmen on the Ute squad. He missed most of last season when he broke an ankle in a junior varsity game against Ricks College. Before Vinson was injured he had rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. He came back running around and over people this spring at fullback. Cotton has good outside speed but is so strong he really moves over people inside. HIGH SCHOOL: Earned twelve varsity letters — four each in football, track and wrestling. Was all-league and all-city in wrestling. All-league, county and city in track as a sprinter. Was on a championship track team. PERSONAL. Favorite pro athlete is OJ Simpson. Mother and father are those he respects the most. Is majoring in sociology. FRITZ CRUM Linebacker, Downey,California, Sophomore, Ht: 6-1, Wt: 215, Born: 9-22-56, Warren High School AT UTAH: 'Crum will see plenty of action as a backup this season at linebacker. Fritz established himself as a real hitter during spring drills. He had a great year on the junior varsity team playing well on defense. A little playing time this season should give him the needed seasoning and help him develop into a fine football player. HIGH SCHOOL: was the most valuable athlete at Warren high school. Team won the league wrestling title, he was the league's heavy weight champ. Was the captain of the football team and the MVP, named to the all-league and all-southeast teams. Won five letters — football (2), wrestling (2), track (1). Was the ASB president, named the scholar athlete and a member of CSF. PERSONAL: Nicknamed Fritz. Father was a basketball and trackster at the University of Cinncinati . . is now a physician. Majoring in biology. Person he respects the most is his father. 13
