Theme:
A rigorous academic experience provided in an environment that values and celebrates strong relationships
between students, staff, families and community.
What makes your school unique?
Orchard Gardens is a welcoming, vibrant, neighborhood centered school where students are striving to
demonstrate high achievement and mastery in all academic content areas including the arts. We believe that
children perform better academically and socially when their families and communities are involved in their
education and their lives. Our nearly 800 students are taught to be independent thinkers and learners. Our
modern school facility provides an environment that is clean, safe, and welcoming to children, families, and
members of all communities. We have a large gymnasium, auditorium, dance studio, two art rooms, a music
room and outdoor athletic practice fields. Electives include Dance, Art, Theatre and Music (woodwind, brass,
percussion and string).
Special opportunities for students:
All students in 6 th , 7 th and 8 th grade students receive an additional four hours of instruction each day - Monday
through Thursday – through our partnerships with Citizen Schools and City Year. Students also participate in
expanded learning opportunities over the summer on Thompson Island.
After-School/Extra Curricular Activities
Activities include Baseball, Basketball (boys and girls), Cheerleading, Football, Volleyball, Soccer (boys and
girls) and Track and Field (boys and girls).
