What makes your school unique?
Small school with performance based graduation policy, where the student is an active partner in her or his
own learning. Students are expected to demonstrate what they know. External partnerships support our mission
and vision. A few examples of the organizations we work with include: The Farm School, Tufts University, Mass
College of Art and Design, New England Baptist Hospital, Boston Nature Center, Urban Voices and Boston
Partners in Education. We are committed to the arts and ensuring that students experience performances and
perform their own work often. Finally, we are an inclusive diverse community that is anti-racist, anti-homophobic
and honors the voice of different views that our community members bring.
Special opportunities for students:
Frequent field trips
Before/After-school and extra-curricular and sports opportunities:
Before and after school programs are run by Mission Hill staff along with support from local community
organizations. Some of the activities students engage in are swimming, arts instruction, basketball,
snowboarding, and academic support. In addition, we offer wellness workshops on a six week rotation during
school hours, which cover health and physical education. Choices include tennis, meditation, biking, dancing
salsa, and/or playing movement games.
