What makes your school unique?<br />
We have an Expanded School Day which gives our students more time to focus on academics and enrichment<br />
opportunities. Our 8 th graders scored as one of the highest in the District on the MCAS for Math, ELA, and<br />
Science. Our students become members of a team of teachers. We have a Sheltered English Immersion<br />
Program for Spanish and Chinese Students. Our band students were chosen to perform with <strong>Boston</strong> Symphony<br />
Orchestra Conductor, Keith Lockhart. Some of our partnerships include Harvard, <strong>Boston</strong> College, <strong>Boston</strong><br />
University, <strong>Boston</strong> Ballet, <strong>Boston</strong> Sports Museum, <strong>Boston</strong> Partners in Education, <strong>Boston</strong> Symphony Orchestra,<br />
Community Music Center, Citizen <strong>Schools</strong>, New England Scores Soccer, Medicine Wheel, Charlestown Boys &<br />
Girls Club, Bird Street Community Center, Charlestown MGH Health Center.<br />
Special opportunities for students (internships, etc.):<br />
Sixth grade students all participate in the Citizen <strong>Schools</strong> programs which includes apprentices in a great<br />
variety of careers, field trips and leadership training. Our students achieve greater acceptance at the <strong>Boston</strong><br />
Arts Academy due to their preparation here at the Edwards. Many of our students are accepted into the<br />
Stepping Stones Program College Prep Program as well as the C5 Camp Leadership Program.<br />
Extra-Curricular and sports activities:<br />
Football, basketball, baseball, soccer, swimming, cheerleading, breakdance, dance, stepping, band, musical<br />
theater, band, anime, broadcast news, fashion design, leadership programs, and art are a sample of our<br />
extracurricular offerings.<br />
