Yazoo Pass expedition, and Sept. 6 [1864], on the design and
performance of the U.S.S. Vindicator; instructions by Adm.
David D. Porter, Dec. 17, 1864, on the plan to explode a vessel
loaded with powder off Fort Fisher, N.C.; proceedings from
Selfridge's trial for supposed negligence of duty on the Gulf
