in nor<strong>the</strong>rn Alabama, and <strong>the</strong> pursuit <strong>of</strong> Gen. Braxton<br />

Bragg in Kentucky. Contains remarks on camp life, training,<br />

morale, marches, discipline, entertainment, disease, medical<br />

care, Confederate deserters, casualties, sou<strong>the</strong>rn Unionists, prisoners<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>war</strong>, <strong>the</strong> death <strong>of</strong> Gen. William Nelson, generalship,<br />
