New Jersey, efforts to locate missing and wounded soldiers,<br />

and efforts to notify <strong>the</strong> families <strong>of</strong> deceased soldiers. Also contains<br />

a copy <strong>of</strong> a letter by Merwin, July 5, 1910, concerning a<br />

discussion he witnessed between President Lincoln and Gen.<br />

Benjamin F. Butler on what to do with 180,000 black soldiers<br />

after <strong>the</strong> <strong>war</strong>; facsimiles <strong>of</strong> orders issued by Gen. Winfield<br />
