religion, inflation, Confederate spies, and <strong>the</strong> disposition <strong>of</strong><br />

troops. Also includes an account <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> skirmish at Locust Grove,<br />

Va., a description <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> death <strong>of</strong> Capt. Sylvanus S. Wilcox, a<br />

report on Federal casualties in <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Winchester (Sept.<br />
