OPERATIVE MANAGEMENT OF A DISTAL RADIUS METASTASIS

The aim of the study is to present the radiological and functional outcome of a rare
metastatic tumor in distal radius.This is the first case in english literature of such a
long follow up.A 53 year old man right handed presented with a history of right wrist
painHis x-rays revealed a lytic lession in distal radius.He was under close monitoring
and chemotherapy with oncologist team.After 8 weeks presented with a fracture and
extension of the lesion.His primary tumor was clear cell renal tumor,with lung
metastasis.He was treated with "sutent" asunitinib kinase inhibitor.After oncologist
consultation desicion was made to stabilise the fracture withaout tumor excision.The
osteosynthesis was made by using plate on plate locking system by Syntes and
cement to further enchance the screw stability.After 2 1/2 years follow up,he remains
pain free with good functional outcome
