COMPARATIVE STUDY OF RESULTS OF INTERLOCK NAILING IN OPEN AND<br />

CLOSED TIBIAL DIAPHYSEAL FRACTURES<br />

Present study comprised of 30 cases of tibia fracture. Majority of the patients were<br />

males (83.3%). The average age of the patients was of 27.5 years Of the total 30<br />

cases , 18 were closed, 7 grade I compound fractures, 3 grade 2 compound fractures<br />

and 2 grade III A compound fractures. Most of the cases were of type A3. The<br />

patients were followed up for a minimum period of 6 months the average duration<br />

being 38 weeks. The average time of union were best in A1 (spiral undisplaced)<br />

fractures i.e. 15.6 weeks. There was a delay in union seen as comminution<br />

increased. The time of union had significant association with type of communition<br />
