Fracture of the femoral stem component, following hip arthroplasty, is an uncommon<br />

but recognised complication. Fracture of the neck of femoral stem, however, is rare<br />

with only a few cases reported in the literature. We present the first case of a fracture<br />

through the neck of a Charnley Elite Plus femoral stem and review the factors<br />

causing femoral stems to fail in this manner<br />
