MENISCAL REPAIR, IS IT A GOOD OPTION?<br />

Meniscal repair is a procedure that becomes recommended, the development of new<br />

repairs system made the procedure easier. In our prospective study we performed<br />

repair using a new "all-inside" system. Methods: We used the RapidLoc repair<br />

system (J&J, Mitek products) to repair tears in 18 patients. All operations were<br />

performed by one surgeon (B.P.). Evaluation was performed using the International<br />

Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) and the Lysholm functional questionnaires.<br />

Results: The study included 18 patients in which we performed 18 meniscal repairs,<br />

the average age was 22, and the follow up was for one year. 16 males (89%) and 2<br />

females with 16 tears of medial meniscus and 2 of the lateral. All patients had tears<br />

in cooper zones 1 and 2. An average of 2.4 sutures was used. 7 underwent<br />

concurrent ACL reconstruction, in 11 the tear was an isolated injury. The success<br />

rate by objective IKDC score was 94% who had an "A" score after the operation. The<br />

subjective IKDC score was improved from 37 to 74 (p value < 0.001), the Lysholm<br />

score was improved from 57 to 91 (p
