RESORBABLE SCAFFOLDS IN THE TREATMENT OF OF OSTEOCHONDRAL
TALUS DOME DEFECTS

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of synthetic resorbable scaffolds
transplantation of the talar dome with MRI and clinical short and medium term follow
up. We therefore present surgical technique steps and early results ,at one year
,obtained with preformed in shape and size bone graft susbstitutes ,in repair of
degrees III and IV full thickness osteochondral defects of the talus .all surgical
procedures have been completed uneventfully. Patients have been controlled
clinically and by serial ankle MRI's and showed statistically significant improvement
of AOFAS scores associated to healing of defects and integration of bone plugs in
absence of adverse reactions. This study shows that resorbable scaffolds can be
used in ankle chondral lesions with good results.
