16-17 yr old Homelessness Protocol – Best Practice Analysis
Leicestershire Wide Multi Agency Protocol to
assist homeless/potentially homeless 16-17 yr
Children’s Social Care will not normally accept
Children’s services duty teams are not directly
young person who has a housing need first
presenting themselves in crisis to a children’s duty
team they will be asked to telephone Care Connect.
Care Connect will collect from the young person
sufficient information to make a referral to the duty
team for assessment, if appropriate. (Norfolk C)
Connexions will be required to attend all joint
assessments for 16/17 year olds with Children’s
Social Care and Housing. Connexions workers can
advocate for the young person and, if appropriate
can speak on behalf of the young person during an
assessment.
check with the relevant housing options team
