R6 Cabinet should consider whether services run
directly by Blaby District Council should be
advised not to compete in the participatory
budget process – this reflects the public
concerns at their involvement in the process.
R7 While not within the terms of this review,
Commission is asked to urge Cabinet to make
recommendations to County that steps are
taken to increase public awareness and
attendance at the forum sessions. Members
of the working group concluded that the
current system was not working effectively in
Blaby District.

Where eligibility criteria allows BDC to attract
additional funding, officers will continue to
explore all additional sources of income e.g.
BB19. BDC applies for grants in order to
support groups to get additional funding to
meet needs delivered by non statutory
services. By restricting officers from engaging
in this process some of our more vulnerable
residents may not receive valuable support
services.
BDC has and will continue to support
organisations to get additional funding to
support delivery of our corporate priorities.
The Chief Executive has written to Assistant
Chief Executive at Leicestershire County
Council to raise the concerns that Members of
the Working Group presented. The County
Council have advised that they are actively
addressing the issues raised.
