Recommendation to Council
That the Green Space Strategy at Appendix 1 be approved.
Reason for Decision Recommended
The Council needs to develop and adopt a Green Space Strategy in order
to strengthen its strategic approach to the provision of green space within
the District and ensure a co-ordinated approach with partners.

6.1 At present the Council does not have a Green Space Strategy and therefore
has no formalised strategic direction for green space.
6.2 Green space is an essential ingredient of successful neighbourhoods and it
provides a wide range of social, economic and environmental benefits to local
communities. There is huge national demand for better quality green spaces.
